As our grassroots efforts across the neighborhood have grown, so has our vision for what we can accomplish together. Today, we are proud to share an important milestone in our journey: Shackleford Road Community Service Organization (SRCSO) is officially becoming the Shackleford Road Community Service Foundation.

While our legal title is shifting, our core mission, community presence, and hands-on dedication remain exactly the same. We are still the same team out on weekends keeping our neighborhood clean and safe, but this transition provides us with a stronger structural backing to expand our reach.

Same Hands-On Work, Stronger Standing

First and foremost, our day-to-day operations aren't slowing down. Whether it’s organizing roadside cleanups, tracking volunteer labor for student service programs, or submitting safety reports on local municipal hazards, our volunteers remain active on the front lines.

Why Transition to a Foundation?

Moving under a formal foundation framework establishes a more permanent organizational structure that benefits our community in three key ways:

  • Greater Access to Civic Meetings: Foundation status elevates our official standing when engaging with municipal departments, city council members, and civic boards regarding local infrastructure and safety concerns.
  • Expanded Grant Opportunities: Opens doors to institutional grants, environmental stewardship funds, and corporate sponsorships that allow us to purchase better equipment and safety gear.
  • Long-Term Advocacy: Ensures that our community’s voice regarding bridge maintenance, park safety, and road cleanups is heard and prioritized by local leaders.

What Changes for Volunteers?
